Eden Hazard, whose contract at Chelsea is set to run out at the end of next season, has been in the headlines a lot lately.

Believing he’s been the best player in the world since the end of the World Cup, the Blues’ forward has also openly discussed a potential transfer to Real Madrid, where he feels he might have a better chance of winning the much coveted Ballon d’Or.

However, despite all this talk of how good he is, those who know him on a personal level don’t see him as an egotistical player, just someone who’s confident in his ability.

Yannis Salibur, currently at Saint-Etienne, discussed his former teammate’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or with Le Progrès, having played with him during his time at Lille.

He said: “I’d like for him to win it, but because of his talent. Even if he’s my mate, I wouldn’t vote for him if he was rubbish. Just like Modric or Mbappé, Eden could have been voted best player at the World Cup. He has a huge belief in himself.

“Eden is really nice, really cool. He doesn’t let stuff get to him. He doesn’t look for fame. He’s someone who’s very simple, who feels family is very important. Like me”.

Despite wanting the Chelsea forward to win it, Salibur knows that’s unlikely, and has a feeling Luka Modric will be the one walking away with the trophy.

Since the start of the season, Eden Hazard has scored eight goals and picked up three assists in 10 games in all competitions.
