Tottenham star Richarlison has admitted he hopes his latest double for Brazil means fans in his country start to believe in him more.
The Spurs forward was in fine form for Tite’s side again last night, bagging two goals in the 3-0 win over Ghana in Le Havre.
That game is his country’s penultimate one before the World Cup in Qatar, where he is expected to be a part of the squad.
It took the Tottenham star to 16 goals in this World Cup cycle, the second top goal scorer behind Neymar, and six in his last five for his country overall.
It’s a similar story at club level for Richarlison, who also has to compete with Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski for a starring role at Tottenham.
This performance may have gone some way to answering any doubts, though, and Richarlison certainly hopes that was the case.
“I come here, do my work, keep quiet and take every opportunity that the coach has given me,” Ge Globo report him saying after the game.
“It’s just to keep going. I hope the Brazilian people believe in me more because I’m a guy who, when I get here in the national team, I score a lot of goals.
“I’m wearing the No9 shirt today and every time I wear it, I score a goal. And I hope to keep going like this. I try to help there in the middle.
“We need Neymar in one piece as well. I’m trying to help him out in the middle, so that he doesn’t get too tired in the tackle, and we can make the most of him up front.
“We want to make the most of him so he can keep his breath. I help in the middle for him to be more free.”
