Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu is now living a new challenge in Italy, where he joined Serie A side Venezia in the summer.
Interviewed today by Ansa, the 21-year-old talked about his adaptation to a new league, and his wish to help his new team in all possible ways.
Despite being mainly a central defender, Ampadu has been mostly used in Venezia’s midfield, and has no complaints about it.
“I think it is useful to be able to play in more positions,” Ampadu told Ansa.”
“Okay, maybe not as an attacker, but in defence or in midfield I feel at ease. I have no preferences, I’m young, I want to play and wherever I need it I’ll be happy to do so.”
The Chelsea loanee also praised the squad which will fight for Venezia’s stay in Serie A.
“I feel good, we are a lot of young people and the most experienced are helping us. We’re happy with what we can do, it’s up to us to improve in every match, because we think we can deserve the A.”
The youngster was booked three times in three games, and now claims that his British style is the reason for it.
“Yes, everyone tells me, friends and family, that I take too many. It is part of my somewhat aggressive game, coming from the Premier League, the impetus is there”.
Ampadu joined Chelsea on a move from Exeter City back in 2017. He even made 12 appearances for the Blues’ first team, and that’s when he had his first appearances for Wales’ national team, for whom he starts to this day.
The 21-year-old then started being loaned out, first to RB Leipzig, then Sheffield United and now Venezia. His contract with the Stamford Bridge side runs until 2024.
