Since the English media reported this week that Chelsea have Benfica director Rui Pedro Braz on their list of potential recruits, the Portuguese press has been giving big coverage to the story.
This subject was last discussed on CMTV, where journalist Mauro Xavier gave his opinion on the matter, claiming it makes no sense for the Eagles to keep an employee who wants to work at another club.
“I think there are no irreplaceable people in any profession, whatever it may be. Coaches or players. So if someone has a better proposal, which is good for their career, I’m always adept at that principle,” said Xavier (via Record).
“I think not having people upset… I think Guardiola says that, that the only players he doesn’t want to keep are the upset players. And the same thing applies to players and coaches or officials. So people who are upset in an organisation are never productive from that point of view. From my point of view if that opportunity arises, I think he won’t say no.”
Firstly, on Thursday evening, they claimed to have learned that Chelsea will actually have to go for other options on their list, since Braz’s arrival at the Stamford Bridge is currently ‘out of hypothesis’.
Their website said the director is ‘100% focused’ on his job at Benfica and doesn’t want to leave the club before conquering relevant titles there.
Record also came up with a short story on this matter in their newspaper on Friday morning, and the information was pretty much the same. It’s said Braz has a very relevant role in Benfica’s signings, with a ‘narrow collaboration’ with president Rui Costa, and continues to be focused on winning things there.
