After Leicester City confirmed Caglar Soyuncu will join the club from Freiburg in a €21m deal, his former manager Huseyin Eroglu has spoken to Ajansspor about the defender.

Eroglu, who promoted Roma star Cengiz Under and new Leicester City signing Caglar Soyuncu to the Altinordu first team in the 2015/16 season, said it’s no surprise for him that Soyuncu is now set to play in the Premier League.

Eroglu said the 22-year old defender will be a big success at in England: “Caglar educated fantastically in our brilliant academy. We prepared him, send him to Bundesliga and he showed a great performance. I think he will be a great hit at England. His playing style is very well suited to the Premier League.

“He has enormous physical attributes. He’s a great defender. Although Leicester is a level below from the top six clubs, it’s still a great move. He moved to the best league in the world. I wish him all the best.”

Soyuncu is one of the first products of Altinordu’s revamp of their youth system. In six years, Turkish club have developed the players like Soyuncu and Cengiz Under (now AS Roma) and there’s a feeling that a lot of players will follow in the footsteps of these two.

Altinordu are also set to receive €5.25m from the sale of Soyuncu thanks to their agreement with Freiburg, when he was sold to the Bundesliga club.

The Turkish international now has fight on his hand to grab a place in the Leicester City team with the competition tough for places in central defence.
