Following months of waiting, Inter Milan seem ready to announce the signing of Romelu Lukaku back from Chelsea.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato today features a piece claiming Wednesday will be the ‘Lukaku day’, as the player is set for his medical and will then sign a contract.
It’s said Lukaku is landing in Milan ‘in the next few hours’. And there’s been confirmation from Inter Milan director Beppe Marotta, who, when asked about the striker’s arrival, said: “I think tonight.”
The Belgian is reportedly moving on a ‘dry’ loan for one season, for which the Nerazzurri will be paying €8m plus bonuses. It’s said he’ll receive a salary of €8.5m plus add-ons.
Lukaku’s spell at Chelsea this season didn’t go as expected. Following all the success he had in Italy, the Blues signed him in a €113m deal last summer, and he was only able to respond to that investment with 15 goals, only eight of them coming in the Premier League.
Now that Inter Milan have found a reasonable deal to have him back for a season, his performances in Serie A will certainly dictate whether the Nerazzurri will fight again next year to keep him for longer.
