Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia has told TV Play that Manchester United could be an option for Antonio Conte.
The 54-year-old hasn’t returned to the bench since he was shown the exit door at Tottenham Hotspur in March 2023.
The journalist claims Conte is eyeing for a job in the Premier League, and believes he could end up at Manchester United.
“I say about Antonio Conte that if he does an interview with the Telegraph, in my opinion he could stay in England,” he said.
“He wants to coach in the Premier League and I think he could eventually go to Manchester United. He wants to win immediately and only an English team can guarantee him this possibility.”
Conte has the experience of managing in England from his time at Spurs and Chelsea, with whom he won the Premier League title during the 2016/17 season.
Manchester United have struggled in the first half of the season. Their poor results and failure to score regularly led to suggestions that Erik ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford could be in danger.
The Dutchman has since helped the Red Devils turn things around, both with form and results. The Old Trafford club are unbeaten this calendar year, winning five of their six games in all competitions, scoring 17 goals in the process.
Taking this into account, it would be a surprise if Manchester United were to now decide to part ways with Ten Hag and appoint Conte as his successor, but crazier things have happened in the past.
