AZ Alkmaar defender Owen Wijndal has admitted he is ready to move this summer amid interest from Everton.
Wijndal has been linked with a move away from the Dutch club in the last few weeks, with it believed Ajax are looking at him as a potential replacement for Nicolas Tagliafico.
They are not his only suitors, though, with Everton also brought into the mix this week and said to be ‘concretely interested’ in a transfer.
That’s because the 22-year-old could be available for as little as €10m, a figure that fits perfectly into Everton’s very limited budget this summer.
A move outside of the Netherlands was believed to be in the interests of Wijndal’s agent as it would earn him a higher commission than he’d get from the likes of Ajax, putting the likes of Everton and Sevilla at the front of the queue for his signature.
Whether either side makes a move remains to be seen, but the defender has hinted he is ready to make the next step nonetheless.
“I’ve decided not to say much about it because that’s not very nice towards AZ. I don’t really think it’s necessary because I’m here, and I’m focusing on here,” FC Update report him saying.
“I have expressed my ambition to AZ to help the club, and the club helps me in that. Which club it will ultimately be, I have no idea.
“I think I’m ready for it, but I’ve also indicated in previous interviews that it has to be a club where I really feel good, and otherwise, I’ll just stay with all the pleasure and pride at AZ. That’s just still the case now.”
