Crystal Palace striker Cenk Tosun has spoken to the Turkish media after his season-ending knee injury, which he picked up during yesterday’s training session with the Eagles.
It’s been reported that the 28 year old will miss the rest of the season and is unlikely to feature at Euro 2020 with Turkey.
Speaking to TRT Spor last night about his injury, the Crystal Palace loanee said he’s devastated that he will miss the Euros this summer: “I am struggling to sleep. I am so upset at the moment. But there’s nothing I can do about it. I want to think there is also a good thing in this.”
The Turkish striker joined Crystal Palace on loan from Everton in January and, as he stated at the time, he wanted to get regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2020.
This injury setback for Tosun means Crystal Palace will only have Christian Benteke as a recognised striker until the end of the season, after Roy Hodgson allowed Connor Wickham to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan, following Tosun’s arrival from Everton.
With regards to the Turkey national team, Tosun was an important member of the squad and his presence will be sorely missed during the tournament.
