Manchester City have seen Kevin De Bruyne and Claudio Bravo suffere injuries in training this month.
The Belgium international has been sidelined for three months, while the former Barcelona man is expected to miss the rest of the season.
De Bruyne was a standout player for Pep Guardiola’s side in their title winning campaign last term and featured in only one game this season before suffering knee ligament damage.
He was also part of the Belgium squad who finished third at the 2018 World Cup. The ex-Chelsea man’s injury setback means he will not be part of Roberto Martinez’s squad to face Scotland and Iceland in September and Switzerland and the Netherlands in October.
De Bruyne has already visited Dr Ramon Cugat in Barcelona for treatment and his national team coach has revealed he has held talks with the doctor regarding the 27-year-old’s injury situation.
“I spoke with Dr. Cugat in Barcelona and we are following it [De Bruyne’s recovery process]. It is disappointing because these two games in September will serve to set the tone for what we will do next. Now you have to make sure he can come back with all the freshness you need,” Martinez told Belgian outlet DH.
