Earlier this window, Tottenham Hotspur signed Jack Clarke from Leeds United and immediately sent him back to Elland Road on a season-long loan deal.
Spurs also added Tanguy Ndombele to their squad as the France international became their club-record signing.
Having completed these two transfers, there hasn’t been any activity in terms of incoming transfers at the north London club.
Over the past few days, there’s been talk about the Champions League runners-up’s interest in Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho, Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes.
With less than 48 hours remaining before the Premier League window closes, it wouldn’t take a leap to suggest Mauricio Pochettino may be frustrated, especially given some of his comments this summer. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
“I’m happy because I understand Tottenham and know how things work here. So, I’m happy, I shouldn’t complain about it,” Pochettino told Norway’s TV2.
The former Southampton manager makes it clear it has been a ‘difficult summer’, but that hasn’t stopped him from feeling positive for the new season ahead.
“It was heavy to swallow [Champions League final defeat to Liverpool]. I feel much better now,” Pochettino stressed.
“The season is approaching, we are excited. There are expectations, but also new motivation. Exciting times! We are very competitive. We love to win and compete. It was a difficult summer, but now we are filled with good energy and are looking forward to a new season.”
Pochettino will be even happier if he gets one or two more signings over the line.
