Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga is among the five fastest players in the Premier League this season.
The winger is third in the list with 35.9 km/h, behind Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Carlos Forbs [36.6 km/h] and Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven [37.1 km/h]. He’s ahead of Manchester City star Erling Haaland and Spurs’ Timo Werner, who have both clocked in 35/7 km/h.
Elanga is currently with the Sweden camp, preparing for the UEFA Nations League clash against Estonia later today.
The Nottingham Forest player has been speaking to the local media and his pace became one of the topics of discussions. His comments are relayed by Fotbollskanalen, who state he’s the second fastest [note; he’s third] in the Premier League.
According to the 22-year-old, he should be leading the list.
“Second…? I should be first. But I think I’m faster with the ball than without. I think it’s there naturally,” he said.
The former Manchester United man is of the belief he would have been leading the charts if the speed is calculated while in control of the ball.
“I think I’d be up there. He’s [Haaland] fast. I think he’s faster than the list says. But I also think I’m faster than the list says,” Elanga explained.
The Swedish media asked the Reds attacker whether he trusts the Premier League list.
“No, no, no. I’m faster than what the list says. I think most of my teammates would say the same thing. I don’t trust the list,” he added.
Elanga is of the belief he should be leading the list, ahead of the Tottenham defender and Manchester City striker.
