Hirving Lozano signed for Napoli in the 2019 summer transfer window. The Mexican had previously been linked with a move to Manchester United, yet there wasn’t the huge battle to get him from PSV which had been expected by some.
He struggled to fully impose himself at the Serie A side during his first season with them, and that saw transfer rumours quickly emerge. Everton were the club mentioned most frequently, due to Carlo Ancelotti moving there from Napoli and Marcel Brands having helped sign the player for PSV.
Barcelona haven’t really been in the picture, yet that’s a destination which would please Lozano. Now having more prominence at Napoli, with four Serie A goals and one assist in six matches this season, he’s able to make aims for the future, and that’s where Ronald Koeman’s side come in.
Speaking to Mexican TV, in comments picked up by Calciomercato, Lozano was asked about his aims for the rest of his career. The 25-year-old has been quoted as saying: “The future depends on many things and cannot be predicted. There are many teams in which I would like to play, having to choose one I would say Barcelona. But whatever team I go to, I hope to fit in in the best way.”
That very much suggests he’s already thinking about a future away from Napoli, although he’d have to put in an impressive season to make the Camp Nou a serious possibility.
