This week, Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo received the bad news that he’s likely to miss the Euros.
Following an injury in the match against Liverpool on Monday, the player was diagnosed with a microfracture in his foot which should take over a month to heal.
Now as Italy manager Luciano Spalletti today spoke to the local media, TuttoMercatoWeb brings some of his quotes about Zaniolo.
The coach now confirms that the Aston Villa midfielder is set to miss the tournament, giving the player no hope at all.
“Yes, I had spoken to him before. It’s very hard for him to come back, in fact I would exclude the possibility,” said Spalletti.
The whole situation places Zaniolo in a very tough summer. The player, who belongs to Galatasaray, is not expected to be permanently signed by Aston Villa following his loan, and won’t even have the chance to showcase his skills at the Euros to find some new suitors.
It then remains to be seen who’ll try to sign him from the Turkish club in the coming months. A few Serie A sides have been said to be interested, though, and we should soon get to see more news about how the negotiations have been going.
Maybe if there was a chance of another loan, Aston Villa would consider it.
