French outlet Midi Libre today features an interview with Hugo Lloris, who just recently left Tottenham Hotspur to join Los Angeles FC.
The goalkeeper is still enjoying his first few months in the United States, and so far, claims to have made the right choice.
Lloris was asked what he knew about Los Angeles before making the move, and recalled he’d only been in the country when he was still with Tottenham.
“I’ve been to the United States several times with Tottenham training camps, and we played in the Champions Trophy in New York. But I’ve never been on holiday. This is something new for my family and my children. Discovering a region like California, a place that’s known the world over, is an experience you don’t want to miss. If I hadn’t accepted, I could have had regrets,” said Lloris.
With the MLS season set to start soon, Lloris is still to make his debut for his club, who lost the MLS Cup final last season to Colombus Crew.
The goalkeeper had joined Tottenham back in 2012, when Spurs signed him from Lyon on a €12.6m.
He may not have won any trophies at the club, but did have many years as their number one, making a total of 444 appearances there.
With not a single game played this season after announcing he would be leaving, he finally got the offer he was waiting for, and the chance to move to the MLS showed up in January.
Lloris is now 37, and has a contract with the Californian side until the end of the year.
