Young Rapid Wien defender Martin Moormann has revealed he would love to meet Tottenham in the Europa Conference League, as he’s a massive fan of the club.
Vienna have dropped into UEFA’s third-tier club competition after finishing third in their Europa League group behind West Ham and Dinamo Zagreb.
As the third-placed team in the Europa League, they have dropped into the playoff round of the competition, which sees them drawn to take on the second-placed teams from the group stages.
One of those could be Tottenham, who are currently sitting in third in Group G but waiting to play their final game against Rennes.
That was recently suspended because of a COVID outbreak at the club, meaning the draw had to take place with both them and Vitesse as a part of it.
Tottenham are currently three points behind the Dutch side, who sit second on ten points compared to Spurs’ seven.
A win for Tottenham, then, would take them up into second and thus qualification for the knockout stages, where they would then take on Rapid Wien.
At this moment in time, it’s all up in the air, but Moormann is hoping he gets to face Conte and his team.
“I’m a Tottenham fan, I really am,” he told Kicker.
“I would definitely have liked it, but not right away in the first round.”
