Chelsea youngster Joseph Colley has told the Swedish media he wants to stay at the club this season, rather than being loaned out.

Many of Colley’s teammates have been loaned out to other clubs for the season, but the 18 year old is keen to continue his development in Chelsea’s U23 side.

Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Colley was asked if he would like to be loaned out by Chelsea this season: “I really like it here. I think next season will be a good season in the U23s, where I will have a lot of playing time and play in big games. That’s the most important thing for me, the playing time.”

Colley is expected to be part of Chelsea’s U23 side this season after the Swede made the step up from the U18s. In total the youngster made eight starts for Chelsea’s reserve team in the last campaign.

The Swedish youth international signed for Chelsea from Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna in 2015, and last year he extended his contract with the Premier League side until June 2019.

Despite Colley not wanting to be loaned out this season there will become a point in the near future when the player will need to get first team experience.
