Alex Telles is on the front page of all the Portuguese sport newspapers today, and even some of the general ones. Unfortunately for Manchester United fans who want the left-back at Old Trafford, it’s not related to a transfer.

The Brazilian scored twice and was Man of the Match as Porto beat Braga 3-1 on Saturday. Both the goals were penalties, but that doesn’t take away from his overall performance, with the defender also picking up an assist.

Telles is now the defender to have scored the most goals in Porto’s history, picking up 26 over four seasons.

Given the Manchester United rumours, he was asked about the situation after the match and Record quote him as saying: “I focus a lot on my work, people believe what they want. The most important thing is to be focused on my work, the manager and my colleagues know that I am with the club. I have people who take care of that and I have to focus on work and the test was the game we played today.”

Towards the end of the week it was claimed in France that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have agreed a five year contract with Telles, and it’s just a case of them reaching an agreement with Porto over transfer fee.

Surprisingly, that hasn’t seen the Portuguese media, who first reported the possibility of the move, go huge on the transfer.
