Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has been delivered a surprise message from a Polish journalist that he won’t be involved in Poland’s clash with Italy this weekend.

The 28 year old has already picked two yellow cards in the UEFA Nations League but the Leeds United player was unaware he wouldn’t be able to play on Sunday.

Sportowefakty have reported on Klich being told he’s excluded from the game against Italy, with the player responding: “I didn’t even know about it.”

This will come as a blow to the Leeds United star who’s only just forced himself back into contention with his country. Klich has been involved in Poland’s opening UEFA Nation League games against Italy and Portugal but the cautions he’s picked up in both matches have cost him.

Under Marcelo Bielsa the central midfielder has become a key player, starting in all of Leeds United’s opening league games and his performances earned an international call up last month after an absence of four years.

From a purely club perspective, Bielsa may be relieved it’s one less game for Klich.
