Fulham’s Ivan Cavaleiro has backed Sporting Club de Portugal duo Joao Palhinha and Matheus Nunes to be a big success should either or both join Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
Palhinha has been edging closer to a move to Molineux for several weeks, with Bruno Lage reportedly identifying him as a big target in this window.
Several reports out of Portugal have made it clear a move is advancing, with it explained today that Wolves have a pre-agreement in place with Sporting.
So far, they have not made a written offer, but a deal is there to be done, with super-agent Jorge Mendes having again worked as an intermediary to smooth things over.
Palhinha will likely arrive as a replacement for key man Ruben Neves, who is being heavily linked with a move.
Nunes, meanwhile, has also been linked with a move alongside his teammate, and Cavaleiro is convinced both would be excellent signings for his former side.
“If confirmed, it is a great signing for the Wolves,” he told O Jogo.
“What I’d really like is for him to play in my team. Palhinha is more than certified to play at any club in England, especially at Wolverhampton.
“I know the club well, the characteristics of their players, and I know that Palhinha would fit there like a glove. He is a great player; he is top, above average quality, and world-class.
“He is aggressive, plays for the team, and is totally committed to the game. If it’s confirmed, it’s a great signing for Wolves.
“I agree that he would be the perfect replacement for Ruben Neves, who looks like he will be leaving.
“Matheus Nunes is not even up for discussion. He has shown all his quality at Sporting, with the help of Rúben Amorim, and in the Seleção, he has also shown credentials. He is clearly at a high level and ready to play at Wolves. I have no doubt that the duo at Wolves will be very successful.”
