After a little saga, Atlético Mineiro finally agreed an extension for Nathan’s loan from Chelsea.

The midfielder has been having a spell at the Brazilian side since June 2018, and despite the end of the agreement in January, the clubs have now extended the deal for six more months.

The news is brought by Globo Esporte today, who say his registration has been published by the Brazilian FA, allowing him to get back on the pitch for Atletico.

There had been big confidence about a deal, and proof of that is Nathan continued training with the club while they were negotiating the renewal with the Blues.

The player has given an interview to Globo Esporte about the deal, explaining how happy he is to spend more time at Atlético.

“I am very happy to have sorted my stay here at Galo. I never hid that this was my will since the beginning, because I identify with the club, I am very well adapted in Belo Horizonte and I feel good playing here,” he said.

Nathan’s contract with Chelsea was supposed to run until the end of the current season, but as confirmed to Sport Witness by sources close to the player, the club used an option to extend it by a further year.
