Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s time with Leeds United may not have been completely successful, but it was certainly fun at times.

He joined in August 2017, on loan from Hamburg, and it was a good deal for the then Championship club. HSV continued to pay a big chunk of his wages, and there’d be weekly slants from the German media giving the current stance on it all.

At the start of his spell with Leeds United, when Lasogga was regularly finding the back of the net, and Hamburg weren’t, there was some confusion over why they’d ever agreed to send him to Elland Road in the first place.

That changed as the goals dried up, and Lasogga scored his last for Leeds in February of his loan. Leeds’ chances of promotion slipped away and so did the prospects of a permanent deal.

So back to Hamburg he went, and in June 2019 he moved to Al-Arabi, before going to current club Al-Khor.

Of course there are lots of differences between England, Germany and Qatar, and Lasogga has made it clear he misses… rain.

Usually footballers complain about bad weather and relish the chance to move somewhere where storms are rare, but not this striker.

Germany’s Suddeutsche Zeitung quote him as saying: “I miss rain. I love to play football in the rain. There is nothing better for me. That would be good for my mood sometimes.”
