Marcos Alonso arrived at Chelsea from Fiorentina in the summer of 2016, when Antonio Conte was in charge at Stamford Bridge.
After featuring regularly under the Italian for the first two campaigns, the 31-year-old retained his place in the Blues starting lineup the following campaign, under the orders of Maurizio Sarri.
Frank Lampard replaced Sarri in 2019 and the left-back has seen his playing time limited under him and his successor, Thomas Tuchel. The competition was also increased after the west London club signed Ben Chilwell in 2020.
The Spain international came up through the ranks of Real Madrid’s youth setup, but failed to make an impact for their first team. Therefore, he was allowed to join Bolton Wanderers in 2010.
“I would love to play in La Liga, all my life I have wanted to play and be here in Spain, but the circumstances have been different and not everything has depended on me. At the moment I am focused on this season and what has to be, will be,” Alonso told AS.
AS then asked whether he could play for Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Barcelona due to the family ties. He said: “Yes, yes, I have family ties on all sides… Chelsea right now. I have a contract for this and one more season.”
