Back in the summer of 2021, Chelsea winger Kenedy left the club in one of his many loans.
That time, he moved to his home country, Brazil, and joined Flamengo.
The winger was part of a very strong team there, who got to the Copa Libertadores final in December, and was expecting to haver a bigger time to adapt himself.
However, following Ben Chilwell’s injury, Blues’ manager Thomas Tuchel decided it was time to call back the loanee.
Kenedy returned to Chelsea as a squad option for the left-back position, and it turned out he was only used three times, with two of them being in the FA Cup.
So that’s a very good reason for him to feel frustrated about that comeback, and he talked about it in an interview with SportBuzz this week.
“I was sad to have left earlier than expected. I would have liked to stay longer, but it was not as I dreamed. I hope one day to return and everything will be different”, said Kenedy.
“I played half a season in each team, so I didn’t have many opportunities. There’s no way to evaluate my season, but my goal as a professional is always to surpass myself more and more, we always want to enter the pitch to win.”
Now Kenedy is part of Chelsea’s squad for the season, as long as he doesn’t get involved in a late move in the transfer window, and he claims he’s motivated to play more for the Blues, trusting that Thomas Tuchel’s side will be fighting for big things.
“I always had motivation. Of course, with great signings, we always try to do our best and be within the group”.
“Yes, Chelsea are a great club and they will fight for all the trophies this season. It’s a squad with a lot of quality and great players.”
