Following Sébastien Haller’s move to Ajax, West Ham are in the market for a replacement and that’s inevitably seen them linked with several options already.
Moussa Dembélé was one of the names quickly pushed forward, with there being claims the Hammers have made contact for his signing over the past week. However, the Lyon player is now thought to be on his way to Atletico Madrid, on a loan deal which will see the Spanish side have a purchase option in the summer.
Boulaye Dia, who plays for Reims, has also been pushed forward, and the player’s agent has confirmed talks with the Hammers.
Speaking a couple of days ago, Frédéric Guerra was quoted as saying: “We talked a lot last month with West Ham. However, we have not moved forward. He is a player that interests them. After that, the question this winter is whether by choosing West Ham or another club, we do not exclude many other clubs this summer.
That didn’t sound hugely promising, the last thing David Moyes need is to go chasing for a player whose agent doesn’t seem so excited about a January move to West Ham, clearly holding out for other opportunities to come forward.
However, the interest is thought to remain, and Dia has now spoken to France’s TF1. Quoted on Sunday, the striker said: “I could leave as I could stay. The month is very long, I am focused on Stade de Reims, I only think of that I do not control thing outside sport. I am very well in Reims, it is is a beautiful family.”
