Nikola Vlašić is set to start for West Ham United in their Europa League clash against Dinamo Zagreb, according to his father.
The ex-Everton man returned to England last month when the Hammers signed him from CSKA Moscow.
Having made his West Ham debut after coming off the bench in the goalless draw against Southampton, the Croatia international is expected to make his first start for his new club in his own country.
Tata Vlašić, the 23-year-old’s father, made these claims during an interview with Večernji List.
When asked what he expects from the midweek clash, Vlašić Sr said: “I don’t know what to answer. It is important that fans enjoy a good football show. I hope Nikola plays a good game. I know that he will start from the first minute.”
In his pre-match press conference, when praising the player, David Moyes said Nikola can be deployed across various attacking positions, so it’ll be interesting to see where he’ll operate against Dinamo.
Nikola arrived in London on deadline day and is currently staying in a hotel, until his accommodation is sorted out. The time spent at Everton has helped him settle quickly in the English capital.
“For now, he still lives in a hotel. Such is the procedure in the club. They have a whole team that takes care of the players that come in for the new season. I believe they will find accommodation soon,” Tata explained.
“As for the rest, there is no problem for now. He knows English well because he was already in England when he played for Everton. He knows the league; he gets to know the city…”
