Three days ago, journalist César Luis Merlo reported Club América and Tigres UANL are keen on signing West Ham United’s Guido Rodríguez this summer.

He also stated the midfielder isn’t convinced about leaving England and is focused on staying at West Ham despite struggling for minutes this year.

Later that day, Record in Mexico reported that both Club América and Tigres UANL have no interest in the West Ham player. They also reported the two clubs are targeting others to improve their midfield.

Tigres manager Guido Pizarro has now been asked about signing the 32-year-old for the Mexican club and Marca have relayed his comments. The manager admitted he knows the West Ham player, but a move seems highly unlikely this summer.

“I know Guido’s situation very well; I haven’t spoken to him, and I don’t know if he’ll be an option, but Joseph Rosales is a clear option. Surely in the next few days, a decision will be made as to whether it will be him or someone else,” he said.

Pizarro knows the Argentina international from their time with the national team, and both were part of La Albiceleste’s Copa América squad in 2019. In short, the manager has backed up what was reported by Record last week about the World Cup winner.

Rodríguez joined the Hammers on a free transfer in August of last year and was initially a regular. He lost prominence especially after Graham Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui in January.
