Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has insisted he “immediately felt good” about a move to the club this summer.
The full-back has been speaking to Viaplay, via Voetbal International, about his move to Old Trafford to reunite with Erik ten Hag.
The defender is one of several new faces to arrive at Manchester United in what has been a busy transfer window of backing for Ten Hag.
He’s the latest former Ajax man to reunite with the Manchester United boss, who has also signed Lisandro Martinez, Antony, and Mathijs de Ligt.
He eventually signed from Bayern Munich in a €15m deal but had to wait for the move to go through as Manchester United move on Aaron Wan Bissaka to West Ham United.
The switch brought an end to something of a disappointing spell at Bayern, who he joined on a free transfer from Ajax in July 2022.
He’s made a flying start to life in England, and it seems he’s delighted with the choice, having “immediately felt good” about it.
“I wanted to make a move to another club this summer,” he said.
“When I heard the Manchester United option, I knew I wanted it. That immediately felt good, but I had to wait until they sold the other right back. You don’t just say goodbye to Bayern, but I was ready for something different.
“That was due to many things, but I don’t want to talk about that. I always wanted to go to the Premier League but knew that after Ajax I would take an intermediate step. No sooner said than done.
“Fortunately, the first impression was good, it felt that way to me too. That’s a relief. Everything is new, so things can very easily go wrong. What I really liked is that they can also really appreciate a defensive action here, such as a good tackle or a good interception.”
