For the second time in two days, there’s a Christian Eriksen interview in Denmark in which he talks about Tottenham’s struggles recently. Having already explained why the club are struggling to find their rhythm this season, Eriksen has accepted it’s annoying people… but pointed out it’s annoying him too.
In an awkward moment with the media, who have obviously been pointing out Eriksen’s patchy Tottenham form, the player said: “Everyone surely has something to say. I do not know whether it is those standing here who write it.”
Tottenham’s situation perhaps isn’t quite so miserable as the Danish press chasing Eriksen think.
There’s been some poor luck involved too, and the Spurs man said: “We can console ourselves with the fact that we are unbeaten in the Premier League, but we should have put ourselves in a better situation in the Champions League.”
Eriksen is aware that he has a responsibility to score goals more often, and after pointing out Tottenham’s defender goals have dried up too, he added: “We midfielders need to score goals. The attackers need to score goals. It’s the whole team that needs to score goals.”
Goals!
Eriksen accepts that some uncertainty has crept in to finishing, seeing things hit the post rather than go in-between, but that nervousness is likely to increase if he’s continually pressed on the matter even when on international duty.
