Tiemoué Bakayoko has struggled since swapping AS Monaco for Chelsea in 2017, which is why the Blues sent him out on loan to AC Milan in the summer.
The midfielder was unable to regain his Ligue 1 form for the Rossoneri, but that changed when Gennaro Gattuso handed him his first league start against Genoa on October 31st.
Since then, he has played every minute of his side’s matches in all competitions and we relayed news from Italy that the stats in the last three Serie A fixtures indicate the 24-year-old has managed to turn things around.
It was not the case a few weeks ago as the Frenchman was even labeled ‘The Worst’ player on the pitch by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Speaking to Milan TV, Bakayoko analysed his position at San Siro, while also admitting the need to further improve his game.
“I did not get stronger when compared to a month ago. I was the same player you faced from the very beginning. I just feel better in the team right now,” he was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato Web.
“I store tactical information more easily and I easily understand the position to hold in the field. I feel safer than a few weeks ago, it’s true, I needed to play to be so…”
“In small steps, I took my time, I knew it would not be easy, but I think we have seen a very good Bakayoko in the last few games. Now I can only improve.”
