Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma has confirmed he’s aware that Liverpool were following him ‘closely’ amid talks of a renewed bid from the Reds.

Liverpool are thought to be keen on the Dutch star, who scored 16 goals in all competitions, looking at him last summer before his move to Spain.

He’s been a big hit in La Liga, and with Sadio Mane seemingly on his way out of Anfield, it’s believed Jurgen Klopp’s side could make another bid for him.

AS certainly suggest as much today, stating that Danjuma will be the ‘key player’ on Villarreal’s market this summer.

His future is key to the project for Unai Emery’s side, and, after a move in January was delayed until this summer, his environment are now angling for a big transfer.

They already ‘sounded out’ Liverpool and other Premier League teams, but nobody has moved for him at this moment in time.

Villarreal are waiting to see what happens as they’re more than open to him staying but would also welcome a big sale and the player’s wages, which are the highest at the club, comning off of the books.

In the meantime, Danjuma has been asked about his future in an interview with Ziggo Sport and confirmed Liverpool have shown an interest.

“I’m always as honest as possible about it: I’ve never had contact with clubs or anything like that during the season,” Voetbal Primeur report him saying.

“I always know about my situation after the season; I don’t want to be involved in it at all during the season. But I have been informed that Liverpool were following me closely.

“I will never lie: I think it’s a bad quality if you’re not ambitious. And if a club came along that offered me a higher platform to play on sport-wise, I would always have to consider it.”
