Following the 1-0 win over Tottenham, a lot has been made in Italy about the form of Charles de Ketelaere, who missed a rather easy header in the 78th minute.
That’s because the Belgian cost the club a hefty €35m or so, which is a lot for a team like Milan, but he simply hasn’t found any type of form, and failed to score in the process.
Adapting to a new league is never easy, but there were a lot of expectations surrounding the forward, who probably should have found the back of the net against Tottenham.
He’s been deemed a flop by many, despite having yet to spend an entire season at his club, but those around him, including Olivier Giroud, are backing him to succeed.
The former Arsenal striker, who has played against Tottenham many times in his career, sat down with DAZN to talk about his future and his relationship with De Ketelaere.
Relayed by Gazzetta dello Sport, he made it clear he wants his teammate to break his duck against Spurs: “After the header against Tottenham, I hugged De Ketelaere. It’s in these difficult moments that we have to show our support to our teammates: they currently lack confidence and spontaneity, he needs a goal to change everything.
“I wanted him to score too because against Sampdoria, they disallowed his goal for my offside. It’s my fault he hasn’t already unlocked himself. I hope he scores against Tottenham in London.”
