Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech has admitted he would love to return to Ajax at some point in his career.
The Moroccan star established himself as one of the rising stars in Europe during his time with the Dutch giants, who he joined from Twente in August 2016.
He went on to make 165 appearances for the club in all competitions, racking up 49 goals and 81 assists in that time and starring both domestically and in Europe, particularly in the Champions League.
He eventually joined Chelsea in a £36m deal in July 2020 but has struggled to replicate the form he showed in the Netherlands at Stamford Bridge.
This season has been far better than last year, though, with him becoming a regular under Thomas Tuchel and rewarding the German for his faith, with three goals and three assists in 15 games this season.
Despite that, he continues to be linked with a move away, and that subject recently came up in a conversation with Ziggo Sport.
As a part of that, the Chelsea man was asked about a potential return to Ajax, and he made his opinion very clear on the matter.
“I would love to (return),” Soccer News report him saying.
“I had a fantastic time there. It’s a place where I have felt at home, and whether it will ever happen, the future will tell. But, if it is up to me, it will definitely happen.
“That’s (a transfer) not up to me; I leave that to them. I just try to enjoy every day now and do my thing.
“What the future brings, we’ll see then. But, like I said, I hope it happens one day. Whether it will happen is not up to me.”
