While there have been many articles about Mario Pasalic’s future in recent weeks, including an interview with his agent, the player himself hasn’t said anything, until now.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash against Hellas Verona, the Croatian midfielder, currently on loan from Chelsea, sat down with Gazzetta dello Sport to discuss his current situation in Bergamo.

After a chat about their difficult Champions League campaign and their decent form in the league, the final question of the interview was about himself and what he planned to do going forward, considering Atalanta have the option to purchase him at the end of the season for €15m.

He said: “I’ve always said I’m good here, I’m happy. Finally, I’ve stayed somewhere for more than a year: I wanted to settle before, because it’s not great to always be changing countries, city, team.

“I really like Bergamo. I like walking in the Città Alta and I’m living a great moment: I hope to continue this way”.

Without saying it explicitly, it seems Pasalic doesn’t want a return to Chelsea, and there’s little chance of that happening considering his great form for the club in recent weeks and how cheap Atalanta can get him when you take into account some of the prices in today’s market.

After all, he probably wouldn’t dislodge any of the starters at Stamford Bridge, and all that would happen would be him searching for yet another club, whether it be on loan or permanently.
