Arriving from Saint-Etienne for a hefty fee of up to €40m, few thought Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana would either start straight away or adapt as well as he has done.
However, the young centre-back has wasted no time to make his mark on Brendan Rodgers’ starting XI, quickly making the line up and impressing in every outing so far.
Shocking pundits and players alike with his ability and maturity at such a young age, Fofana has Leicester to thank for his quick adaptation, as he explained to Téléfoot Chaîne on Sunday, relayed by France Football.
Clearly ambitious, Fofana also revealed he’s put the big transfer saga surrounding his arrival behind him, mostly thanks to his family, and he’s just thrilled to be in Rodgers’ team, where he’s loving life in the three at the back formation.
He added: “Even if there’s the language barrier, I’ve managed it. The manager trusts me, gives me a lot of responsibilities. I’m ready to accept them”.
Now that he’s settled into a leading Premier League team, Fofana can also aim higher, and he knows exactly what he wants outside of club football.
He said: “It’s an objective to reach the France national team. There’s a lot of competition. I’m going to do everything to get there”.
