Portuguese newspaper O Jogo on Sunday featured a three-page interview with national team defender Ruben Semedo, who currently plays for Olympiacos in Greece.
The 26-year-old has a lot of stories to tell, as he’s been playing abroad since 2017, and had a controversial time in Spain.
For the last question of the interview, O Jogo brought up Liverpool and the rumours which linked him with a move to the Reds.
It was claimed that Semedo could be signed to fill in for Virgil van Dijk at Anfield, and even though he doesn’t confirm the interest, he doesn’t rule out the move either.
“Oh, only difficult questions,” Ruben Semedo told O Jogo.
“I heard that and it’s always good to see my name linked to big clubs. Let’s see what happens in the future.”
There were also stories about his potential return to Portuguese football, and he confirmed that he had offers to leave Greece in the summer, but didn’t want to name any of the sides who moved for him.
“There was interest from some clubs, but now it doesn’t make much sense to be speaking their names, because, after all, I renewed my contract at Olympiacos and I’m focused on my work here.”
Ruben Semedo is currently rated by Transfermarkt at €7m. He seems to be getting back in shape this season, especially after conquering his place in the national team again.
However, we still think Liverpool may be too much for him.
