Daniel Agger has admitted he’s on his way to Merseyside for Liverpool’s Premier League title celebrations at the end of the season.
Tipsbladet have comments from the former defender today in which he admits he’ll be heading back to Liverpool for the big title celebrations.
The newspaper have been speaking to the former defender this week after the first official Liverpool fan shop opened in Denmark.
Agger was the obvious choice to be among those opening the doors, joining forces with the likes of YouTubers, other former footballers and the press at he exclusive event.
He made 232 appearances for Liverpool after an €8.76m move from Bröndby IF in 2006, going on to play for the Reds for eight years before returning to his former club in 2014. He established himself as a firm favourite in that time.
He’s regularly made trips back since and represented the club in various ways, maintaining his relationship with the club where he won the League club 2012 and the Community Shield in 2007.
This summer will see Liverpool celebrate something bigger, the Premier League title, and Agger admits he’ll be heading back to Merseyside to be a part of those celebrations.
“I just have to go over and feel the atmosphere, be in the stadium and see them lift the trophy,” he said.
“It went pretty fast, but I also had several other clubs interested,” he added on his move to Liverpool almost 20 years ago.
“I actually tried to keep my focus on Brøndby, where things were going really well. I didn’t think much about it at first, but when it got closer and I suddenly had to talk to the coach (Rafael Benitez), I could tell it felt right.
“They had just been to the Champions League final and won it, and then I had a good conversation with Benitez, and he expressed that he wanted to invest in me. That’s a very good start.”
