Celtic midfielder Kundai Benyu has revealed his Hoops teammate Mikael Lustig advised him over a transfer to Helsingborg.

The 21 year old has joined the Swedish side on loan until January 2020 as he looks to get first team experience away from Celtic Park. The youngster has yet to make an appearance for Celtic this season.

Speaking to HIF’s official website the Celtic loanee said: “I have a very good feeling. It feels like a good opportunity for me to continuously play A-team football at a high level. My teammate in Celtic, Mikael Lustig, told me that Helsingborg is a big club and that this was a good opportunity for me, so I wanted to come here from the moment I heard about the interest.”

Lustig himself has also been linked with a move to the Allsvenskan in recent weeks following reports both AIK and Malmo are monitoring the situation with the Sweden international.

Celtic have the option to extend Lustig’s contract for another year but with Brendan Rodgers’ departure the defender’s future could be up in the air.

The player recently confirmed he’d spoken to Rodgers but Lustig wanted to wait until the end of the season to see what happened.
