Despite all the controversy about him not returning to his former club Estudiantes, Marcos Rojo still fueled thhe rivalry by now claiming that Boca Juniors ‘are the biggest club in Argentina’.
He also claimed that his fitness shouldn’t be a problem, as he had been training with Manchester United’s squad before returning to Argentina in December.
“Everyone talks about how I haven’t played in a long time, but in Manchester I had been training alongside my teammates. I was feeling very well and wanted to play, that’s why I decided to come. Now I want to take rhythm with the ball to be ready when the coach needs me.”
Marcos Rojo joined Manchester United on a €20m deal from Sporting back in 2014. He made 122 appearances for the club, and the last time he entered the pitch for the Red Devils was in a Premier League clash against Brighton in November 2019.
The defender had a loan spell at Estudiantes in the first semester of 2020, where he only had one match. Since returning to Old Trafford in the summer, he was never used by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
