Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has given an exclusive interview to ESPN Brasil this week.

The 22-year-old had already spoken to Brazilian outlet RedeTV recently, and apparently his good form has been making him one of the most requested players in the squad.

ESPN’s story shows how Torreira has been a player that Arsenal needed, especially for the big difference he’s been making in the team’s midfield.

Asked about where all his strength comes from, Torreira told ESPN Brasil: “This strength comes from myself. I want to keep going, I want to improve and keep growing as a player and I try to be a help to my teammates.

“When I enter the pitch, I give my best for this shirt and give joy to the fans.”

On having a similar chant to the Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, Torreira has once again claimed that he’s very proud of it.

“I didn’t know it was the same song they sang to him. But yes, it is a very beautiful chant, every time I listen I feel the energy when I am on the pitch, it inspires me to continue doing things the best way possible. I’m completely proud.”

Torreira has also spoken about his country Uruguay, which despite not having a big population, always has some great teams and players.

“The secret I believe is humility, work, always helping each other. If you stop to think about the best teams in the world, each team has one or two Uruguayan players and we are about 3 million. This is amazing.”
