Sacked by Marseille after kicking one of their fans in the head, Patrice Evra, after a few months out enjoying life in Dubai and posting Instagram videos, found an unexpected landing spot at West Ham.
David Moyes, who managed him for a season at Manchester United, decided to give the former France international a second chance, and signed him for the Hammers until the end of the season.
As expected, the move sparked a lot of discussions, with many who watched Ligue 1 warning West Ham fans not to get too excited considering how poorly he was playing prior to his contract getting ripped up, and it came as no surprise when, starting against Liverpool in the Premier League, Evra struggled.
Christophe Dugarry, who has his own radio show on RMC Sport, was one of them, and, invited on SFR Sport to discuss football matters with Frank Leboeuf and Emmanuel Petit, couldn’t help but laugh at the left-back’s performance.
He said, extremely sarcastically: “He was good that game, no? He lost 19 balls, late for everything. I found him very good. Well, I found him at his standard. It’s got nothing to do with him. I’m just looking at what he does on the pitch. Even if I don’t like the player or the man himself, I’m just looking at what goes on on the pitch.”
Next up? Perhaps an easier game as West Ham face Swansea, currently 18th, on Saturday.
