Unwanted at Juventus last season, Weston McKennie was sent to Leeds United on loan in hope of him playing well and eventually being bought by the Elland Road side.
However, relegation to the Championship prevented that, and the USA international returned to Turin with a point to prove.
Prove a point he has done, as the midfielder has completed redeemed himself after his Leeds exit, winning the trust of Max Allegri and becoming a key player, which he is delighted about, saying as much in an interview with Sky Italia, relayed by Sport Mediaset.
Interviewed ahead of this weekend’s game against Inter Milan, the midfielder briefly spoke about his feelings when he left Juventus for Yorkshire.
He said: “When I went to Leeds, I felt I had let a lot of people down, but when I came back, it was like the first time: I have a great desire for redemption and to show that I deserve to be in a certain place.”
Used as a bit of a Swiss army knife by Max Allegri since his return, the former Leeds man has been deployed as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder and right midfielder, and has played in every single game of the season so far, starting in 10 out of 12 possible Serie A fixtures.
