Aston Villa target Leon Bailey has admitted he wants to make a move this summer and take the ‘next step’ in his career.

Bailey has been heavily linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen, with several Premier League sides thought to be keen.

Aston Villa are leading the race as far as the latest reports are concerned, with it believed they have already submitted a bid for the Jamaican.

He would be the second winger they have signed this summer and a potential addition to fill the hole left by Jack Grealish if he joins Manchester City.

What has not been known up to this point is whether Bailey would be interested in the move, with the player settled in Germany, where he has flourished since joining from Genk in 2017.

Now he has made it clear he wants a move, opening the door for Aston Villa to get their man this summer.

“I’ve worked hard, and I feel I’m at an age, at a point in my life where I’m ready for the next step,” Kicker report him saying.

“I am 100 per cent ready. Hopefully, it will happen soon.

“For me, it’s about being at the highest level. I feel I need a new challenge.”
