SC Cambuur youngster Alex Bangura has revealed his dream to play for Chelsea, courtesy of his love for Didier Drogba.
Bangura is currently working his way up in the Netherlands, having started at Feyenoord’s youth set up before a move to Cambuur in 2018.
The 22-year-old has moved up the club’s ranks in the two year’s since, with 2019 seeing him make the step up into the first team.
He made his debut for the club in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie back in 2019 and has been a regular since, with 59 appearances in all competitions to date.
This year saw him making the step up to the Eredivisie after Cambuur’s promotion last season, and he’s been a regular so far this season, with eight appearances in the league and 90 minutes in all but two games.
He’s likely to be the club’s first choice for the foreseeable future, and it seems he’s hoping it can help him catch the eye of a big team like Chelsea.
“The level in the Eredivisie is much higher,” he told Omrop Fryslân.
“All mistakes are basically punished here. That’s the big difference.
“I dream of playing football at Chelsea. I used to be a huge fan of Didier Drogba. I thought he was really great. That’s how the love for Chelsea started.”
