Belgian youngster Charles de Ketelaere should have gone to Leeds United this summer, not AC Milan.
That’s according to Dutch analyst Jan Mulder, who has questioned the striker’s decision to move to the San Siro.
De Ketelaere completed a move to the Italian giants yesterday, signing in a €32m deal after weeks of negotiations between the two clubs.
The highly-rated youngster had been linked with a move all summer but Club Brugge held out for the highest possible price, leading to delayed negotiations with AC Milan.
In the middle of that Leeds United made an offer, trying to insert themselves into the potential deal and convince the player to move to Elland Road instead.
That proved impossible to do, with De Ketelaere instead ignoring their interest and focusing on the move to Milan instead.
That’s something that he’s now got but the decision has been questioned in his homeland, with Mulder questioning why he’d turn down the Premier League.
“I don’t understand anything about this transfer,” Het Laatste Nieuws report him saying.
“Of course, he should have gone to the Premier League, because that is the very best league in the world.
“Milan and the Serie A, that’s where celebrities in their final days go these days. Leeds plays in the Premier League and Leeds has also played attractive football. Football that suits De Ketelaere.”
