Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has admitted he has no idea why he was confronted by Everton’s Yerry Mina during their recent meeting.
Everton took on Arsenal in a pre-season friendly last week, with the Gunners running out as 2-0 winners courtesy of goals from Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.
It was the usual friendly affair for most of the clash, with both sides focusing on improving their fitness rather than worrying about the result or the performance.
There was, though, one flashpoint in the game with Everton’s Yerry Mina clashing with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus.
The nature of the cause of the incident wasn’t clear to those watching, with nothing having happened other than the usual clashes throughout a game of football.
And it seems that Jesus was equally perplexed by the situation, admitting to the media in his homeland after the game that he had no idea what had caused Mina to confront him.
“I played with Yerry Mina before at Palmeiras, and we were very close,” he told TNT Sports.
“Then I don’t know why he started attacking me, picking on my chest and giving me lip; I don’t know why or what his motive was.
“In the end, I’m not a kid anymore, I also responded to him. In the end, it’s just part of the game.”
