Former Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson has told the Swedish media he doesn’t think he failed during his time in England.

The 28 year old didn’t make an impact in his debut season at Leeds United and was subsequently loaned out to Blackburn Rovers last season.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, Antonsson was asked why it never really happened for him during his time with Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers: “I don’t feel I’ve failed. I rather see it as a very big opportunity.

“Extremely good players around me, who can give me the passes I like to get in the box. Opportunities to play the Champions League, and if we don’t go all the way then the Europa League.”

Last weekend it was confirmed Antonsson had ended his two year stay with Leeds United after signing for Malmo.

The player joined the Swedish champions on a three year contract for a undisclosed fee after weeks of speculation about his future with the Championship side. The Swede was also linked with Massimo Cellino’s Brescia last month.

Following his disappointing time at Elland Road, Antonsson will now be looking to kickstart his career in his home country.
