Just over a week ago, France won the Nations League final with a 2-1 victory over Spain, despite going behind in the match initially.
Mikel Oyarzabal put Spain ahead just after the hour mark, and it came after some periods of loose play from Didier Deschamps’ side. Paul Pogba was clearly furious with Benjamin Pavard, and the Manchester United midfielder was seen screaming at the Bayern Munich player.
Pavard was later taken off, and it was clear he wasn’t happy with the situation, having a bit of a strop as he took his seat in the stands. After the victory there were reports suggesting the Bayern defender was annoyed that Pogba had singled him out so publicly during the game.
Now, with everything a little calmer, and France able to reflect on another trophy win, Pavard has taken the opportunity to calm the situation.
Speaking to French TV, and quoted by L’Equipe, he said: “I watched the action several times, we talked about it again with Paul, he apologised for reacting in this way. I’m not moving well enough on this action, nor am I at a standstill, and there could have been other player movements as well. We had a chat, I don’t blame him, we talked about it after the match, everything is settled.”
L’Equipe go with a headline saying “I don’t blame Pogba”, and it’s clear this is an incident everyone wants to put behind them, which is far easier after a victory.
