Following his move to Sevilla, Manchester United loanee Alex Telles today held a press conference with the Spanish media to talk about the transfer.
The left-back joined the La Liga side on a one-year deal, with no option to make it permanent, and had a word about his expectations regarding the spell.
“I’m very happy to be at this great club. From the first moment I got the message to come here I didn’t think twice. I’m ready and prepared for this important week in which La Liga begins,” said Alex Telles (via Estadio Deportivo).
Telles was also asked about the lack of buying option in the agreement. The player made it clear he’s focused on the present, regardless of a potential return to Manchester United at the end of the season.
“In life we go step by step. Now I’m here and I’m going to think about this important year for everyone. I don’t think about the future. The future depends on now. I want to do things well and give my best.
“I’m proud of how my career is developing because I’ve come this far and through all the great clubs I’ve been through. There are no difficulties for me, I’m always positive thinking and willing to work hard to get where I want.”
Following the loan at Sevilla, Telles will still have a year in his contract with Manchester United, which expires in 2023 but has an option for a further year.
The Brazilian was signed by the Red Devils in a €15m deal from Porto in 2020. In his two years at the club, he made 50 appearances, and could never really secure a starting place in the team.
Clearly unimpressed with Telles, manager Erik ten Hag chose to have Luke Shaw and new arrival Tyrell Malacia as options for the left-back position this season.
