Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been criticised for not having ‘the right motivation’ during his loan spell at Napoli.
The French midfielder was shipped out by Tottenham in the summer, when it was made clear he was not a part of Antonio Conte’s plans moving forwards.
He made the move to Napoli in the hope of kickstarting his career but has barely played a part in their superb season so far, playing a substitutes role at best.
Indeed, he has featured in just 28% of the available minutes in the league this season and the starting 11 just 27% of the time, with those numbers slightly improved in their six Champions League games but hardly better.
That continued this week in the 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the last 16 of the competition, when he came off the bench to feature for ten minutes.
The Tottenham loanee made little impact in that game and it’s led to criticism from former Italy player turned sports director Francesco Montervino.
“Ndombele? Against Eintracht, I didn’t like him very much,” Tutto Napoli report him saying.
“It seems to me, as they say in Naples, that he came in without genius. If he has desire, he doesn’t need to be introduced, he’s strong, but with Eintracht he seemed not to be present. He needs to have the right motivation.”
